Altera DE4 Development and Educational board
DE4 is powered by the Stratix® IV GX device and supported by industry-standard peripherals, connectors and interfaces that offer a rich set of features that is suitable for a wide range of compute-intensive applications. The DE4 includes transceivers operating at 10 Gbps on SATA and HSMC interfaces which allows it to be fully complaint with PCIe 2.0 in addition to Serial ATA (SATA). The following interfaces allow full integration between DE4 and storage systems.
The DE4 includes two DDR2 SO-DIMM 400MHz sockets supporting up to 8GB of volatile memory for the users application. The High-Speed Mezzanine Card (HSMC) connectors allow functionality expansion using Terasic’s rich Mezzanine daughter cards. The DE4 boards can stack up using HSMC cable for large scale ASIC prototypes development.
The DE4 Software support consists of the Quartus® II Computer Aided-Design software, Nios II soft processor, and simulation tools. The DE4 is a member of Altera’s University Program.

Altera DE3 Development and Educational board
DE3 is powered by the Stratix® III device and supported by industry-standard peripherals, connectors and interfaces that offer a rich set of features that is suitable for a wide range of compute-intensive applications. The DE3 includes High Speed Terasic Connector (HSTC), USB 2.0 and SD card socket. The DE3 includes single DDR2 SO-DIMM 400MHz sockets supporting up to 4GB of volatile memory for the users application. The High-Speed Terasic Card (HSTC) connectors allow functionality expansion using Terasic’s rich Mezzanine daughter cards. The DE4 boards can stack up to 10 DE3 board to creating a programmable fabric that is unequaled by any other FPGA board system in the world. DE3 boards include the DE3-340 (338K logic elements) and the DE3-260 (254.4K logic elements) and the 3SL150 (142K logic elements) which optimized with extra on-chip multipliers needed for DSP research and development. All of the DE3s can be stacked and all share the same set of function from the Terasic's daughter cards connected to them.
Altera DE2 Development and Educational board
The DE2 series powered by Cyclone IV has consistently been at the forefront of educational development boards by distinguishing itself with richness of interfaces to accommodate various application needs. Terasic announces the latest DE2-115 that features the Cyclone IV E device. Responding to increased versatile low-cost spectrum needs driven by the demand for data access, mobile video, voice, and the hunger for high-quality images, the new DE2-115 offers an optimal balance of low power, low cost and a rich supply of logic memory and DSP capabilities.
The Cyclone EP4CE115 device used on the DE2-115 features 114,480 logic elements (LEs), 266 multipliers and up to 3.9-Mbits of RAM.
The DE2-115 adopts similar features from the earlier DE2 series as well as additional interfaces to support protocols including 1 Gigabit Ethernet (1GbE) and a High-Speed Mezzanine Card (HSMC) connector which support additional functionality and connectivity via HSMC daughter cards and cables. The DE2-115 is stackable by using more than one DE2-115 boards, a very useful feature for large-scale ASIC prototype development. The DE2 Software support consists of the Quartus® II Computer Aided-Design software, Nios II soft processor, and simulation tools.

Altera DE1 Development and Educational board - Cyclone II Starter Kit
The DE1 series is powered by Altera Cyclone II and also known as Cyclone II starter Kit.
The DE1 target the academic domain while offering rich set of features for prototyping in multimedia, storage and networking. The board includes set of supporting materials for the DE1 board, including tutorials, "ready-to-teach" laboratory exercises and illustrative demonstrations for use in digital logic and computer organization courses. The DE1 Software support consists of the Quartus® II Computer Aided-Design software, Nios II soft processor, and simulation tools.
The DE1 is a member of Altera’s University Program, the product is offered at a special price for Academic purposes.
The DE1 board features a state-of-the-art Cyclone® II 2C20 FPGA in a 484-pin package.
The DE1 is an excellent solution all levels of users:
- For simple experiments, the DE1 board includes a sufficient number of robust switches (of both toggle and push-button type), LEDs, and 7-segment displays.
- For more advanced experiments, the user can utilize the SRAM, SDRAM and Flash memory IC.
- For experiments that require a processor and simple I/O interfaces, it is easy to instantiate Altera’s Nios II processor and use interface standards such as RS-232 and PS/2.
- For experiments that involve multimedia the DE1 equipped with standard connectors for microphone, line-in, line-out (24-bit audio CODEC), SD memory card connector and VGA; these features can be used to create CD-quality audio applications and video.
- The DE1 board includes two expansion headers which enable the user to connect other user defined boards.
DE0 Development and Educational board - Cyclone III Starter Kit
The DE0 series is powered by Altera Cyclone III 3C16 FPGA device, which offers 15,408 LEs. The DE0 is also known as Cyclone III starter Kit.
The DE1 targets the academic domain while offering 346 user I/O pins, and is loaded with a rich set of features that makes it suitable to be used for advanced university and college courses, as well as the development of sophisticated digital systems.

Altera DE0 Nano Development and Educational board
The DE0 series is powered by Altera Cyclone IV EP4CE22F17C6N FPGA device, which offers 22,320 LEs. The DE0-Nano board introduces a compact-sized FPGA development platform suited for prototyping circuit designs such as robots and "portable" projects.
DE0-Nano major advantages are:
